Taio Cruz
Taio is the founder and C.E.O. of Rockstarr records which released his debut single I Just Wanna Know in 2006 - the same year that he signed a deal with Island Records. The previous year he had co-written Your Game with Blair MacKichan for Will Young that went multi-platinum and won Best Single at the 2005 BRIT Awards.
His debut album Departure was released on March 17th 2008 and was written, arranged and produced in it's entirety by Taio. Although the album was not released in the US it has still attained gold status sales-wise and had 5 hit sinlgles - Come On Girl being the most successful to date peaking at No. 5 in the UK singles chart. He has become an in-demand producer working with other artists such as Tinchy Stryder, Omar, Nitin Sawhney as well as writing for Sugababes, JLS, Daniel Merriweather. More recently Simon Cowell enlisted his services to write songs for Leona Lewis, Shayne Ward and Alexandra Burke albums respectively.
Taio's new album Rockstarr will be released in the last quarter of 2009 - the name plays on the fact that many observers assume Taio to be a R&B artist. He considers himself a pop artist, so the name is a literal reminder of that fact and one expects the music to highlight this even more so with some of his favourite artists being Justin Timberlake, Take That and Coldplay. Rockstarr also coincides with the name of his record label and a new fashion and accessories brand that was unveiled on September 1st. He's definitely one to watch for the future and has released Break Your Heart - the first single from the new album that's sure to be another hit in the success story that is Taio Cruz.
