With their name taken from a Paul Newman film, French band Luke’s debut LP “La Vie Presque” was a melodic and light pop effort, driven by delicate guitars and fragile vocals, much in the vain of their contemporaries Coldplay, Radiohead and Echo & The Bunnymen. With positive nods from the French critics, the band began touring to promote the release. Their next effort, “La Tête en Arrière”, showed the band’s darker tendencies, noticeably on the tracks “Comme Un Homme” and “Le Reste Du Monde”, though never at the expense of a catchy melody.
