Led by pianist Joe Sample and saxophonist Wilton Felder, the Crusaders have thrived for over four decades. They were called the Jazz Crusaders in the 1960s, when they had a tougher hard bop sound. The Jazz Crusaders formed in high school in Texas and then moved to California to make it big.
