The Boomtown Rats
Popular in Britain, this Irish band is best known for the song, "I Don't Like Mondays" and giving us Bob Geldof. Gee, Thanks!
The Boomtown Rats were formed near Dublin in 1975.
They took their name from the Woody Guthrie novel ?Bound For Glory.?
?Looking After Number One? was the band?s debut single, and it went straight into the U.K. charts.
Geldof would eventually find wider fame by organizing the monumental charity event Live Aid in the summer of 1985.
