Slick Rick

A hip-hop hero and style pioneer, Slick Rick is arguably rap's most formidable storyteller.
Originally known as MC Ricky D, Slick Rick got his start in the mid-1980s alongside beat-box specialist Doug E Fresh.
The Ruler's many classics include "The Show," "Mona Lisa," "Children's Story," "La-Di-Da-Di," and "Teenage Love."
Foreshadowing the "bling-bling" era by a good ten years, Rick was the first rapper to sport ridiculous amounts of jewelry.
Though largely slept on, Slick Rick's 1999 album, "The Art Of Storytelling," was one of the year's best releases.
