Phil Collins' strong, emotive voice helped elevate him to one of the most successful Adult Contemporary artists of the '80s. Phil Collins joined Genesis in 1970 as a drummer. When Peter Gabriel left the group in 1974, Collins moved up to frontman. Phil Collins made his first solo album, "Face Value" (1981), while still a member of Genesis. As a child,Phil Collins acted in the London stage production of "Oliver" and appeared in "A Hard Day's Night." Phil Collins' "No Jacket Required" won the Grammy for Album of the Year in 1985.
