Peter Tosh
An early Wailer who went on to an extremely successful solo Roots career, Tosh was a master wordsmith and herb advocate.
Tosh was killed in 1987 by a gang of three men. Only one man was ever captured; he was sentenced to death.
Tosh was an outspoken critic of the system, and he drew its wrath: he was nearly beaten to death by cops three times.
