Born Marion Walter Jacobs 1930 in rural Louisiana, Little Walter remains the most influential blues harmonica player of all time. A prodigious innovator on an instrument that had been a mere embellishment, Walter got his start in late 40’s Chicago, when he became part of Muddy Waters band. Label boss Leonard Chess proved he had vision when he released Little Walter’s 1952 breakthrough R&B chart topper "Juke". Walter proceeded to become a star himself and recorded a string of instrumental (and sometimes vocal) hits for Checker records. He died in 1984.
