Jan Hammer
Composer and keyboardist Jan Hammer became world famous for composing the theme for the TV series Miami Vice. Born in Prague on April 17, 1948, he later emigrated to the US where he attended the Berklee School of Music. After moving to NYC, he joined John McLaughlin’s legendary Mahavishnu Orchestra and took part in such recordings as “The Inner Mounting Flame” and “Birds of Fire”. In 1975, he released his own solo debut, “The First Seven Days”. In the early 80’s, he moved on to TV composition. His Miami Vice theme became number one on the pop singles charts, winning Hammer two Grammies.
