One of the jazz world's most esteemed guitarists, Grant Green was equally skilled in Bebop, R&B, Funk, blues, and Soul-Jazz. George Benson is a huge Grant Green fan and counts him and Wes Montgomery as his major influences. Green was forgotten about for a while but his funkier side has been embraced (and sampled) by the new club generation. Green died before he hit age fifty in 1979. Stay off drugs, kids. Like so many jazz musicians, Green's style was transformed when he heard Charlie Parker.
