David Gilmour

David Gilmour, the guitarist from Pink Floyd, has also released solo work during his career. Influenced early on by Jimi Hendrix, Gilmour developed a uniquely psychedelic sound which earned him the guitar chair in Pink Floyd. In 1978, Gilmour released a self-titled album which was followed by the atmospheric, guitar-driven "About Face" of 1984 on which he was joined by bassist extraordinaire Pino Palladino, Jeff Porcaro on drums and Anne Dudley on synthesizer. 2006 saw the release of "On an Island", a mellow affair featuring some tunes co-written by his wife, Polly Samson.
