Cole Porter was born on June 9, 1891 in Peru, USA. He studied law and music and fought in the French army in World War 1. Porter lived in Paris in the twenties. Today he is considered one of the finest American songwriters of his time, but it wasn’t until 1928 that Porter had some contemporary success with his show “Paris”, which included the now famous tune “Let’s Do It”. Many of his songs, such as “Love For Sale”, “What Is This Thing Called Love” and “Night and Day” became all-time standards. Cole Porter died in the USA in 1964.
