A deeply influential reggae bassist, Barrett played with Bob Marley for eleven years and was an influential producer as well. Barrett was the first to use drum machines in reggae songs. One of the first songs was Bob Marley's "No Woman No Cry." Barrett has loaned his musical chops to the work of Alpha Blondy, Burning Spear, Peter Tosh and Yabby You. Barrett hooked up with musical madman Lee Perry (and the Upsetters) early in his career.
