The R’n’B/pop outfit The Amen Corner formed in Cardiff, Wales back in the mid-sixties and consisted of Andy Fairweather-Low (vocals), Blue Weaver (organ), Neil Jones (guitar), Clive Taylor (bass), “Allen Jones (saxophone), Mike Smith (saxophone) and Dennis Byron (drums). They had a hit in 1967 with their song “Gin House”, and their 1969 release “(If Paradise Is (Half As Nice” even went to the #1 spot of the British charts. Fairweather-Low had by then become a teen idol. Still, the band split up in 1969 to transform into the more progressive outfit Fairweather.
